Project Wy
Project Wy is about leaders, its about community and its about our young people and families leading the way. It takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to raise them up to be a leader - Project Wy is about bringing the metaphorical village around the child.
We work closely with primary and intermediate schools around Auckland to select who they consider to be their future young leaders of the community and beyond. We then work with the student and their parents to mentor their development as a leader while raising their educational aspirations.
Along the way the child and their parents get to share experiences designed to create stronger bonds, build resilience and raise their expectations on what they can achieve together. Think Rotorua Quarter Marathon Run; Think Tough Guy Tough Gal 6km Mud Run; Think 4 day educational holiday bootcamps twice a year in a programme we’ve co-designed with the Auckland War Memorial Museum, The Auckland City Art Gallery, AUT and the University of Auckland. Think, Learn and Grow - that’s what we do with our students and their families.
In 2018 we worked with 118 families with future leaders from 10 schools in South Auckland and Te Papapa - in 2019 with interest from more schools and families across West and South Auckland, we’re likely to grow even more. We’re proud of the work we do - but we’re even more proud of the impact our young people and their families are going to have in the future...
